Vallejo People's Garden 

Join us at the Vallejo People's Garden on Saturday, May 10th from 10am-12:30pm and learn how to lose your lawn without tearing it out. This free how-to talk and tabling event presented by Bay-Friendly Educator and Master Composter Lori Caldwell, along with a Professional Landscape Designer, will provide design and plant selection advice as well as walk you through converting your lawn without breaking your back or wallet. There will be a hands-on demonstration of sheet mulching--an innovative technique of layering materials on top of your lawn, allowing you to plant right into it.  Plus, learn how you can participate in your local water agency's water conservation rebate program, which could put some green in your pocket! Everyone who attends the talk will receive a free copy of the Bay-Friendly Gardening Guide. There will be a drawing for additional garden gifts at the end of the talk. Vallejo People’s Garden presents A Succulent Workshop Saturday, November 9, 2013 10:00am-11:00am Join us at Vallejo People’s Garden on Saturday, November 9, from 10am-11am for an introductory succulent propagation workshop! We’ll talk about the basics of succulent growth, care, splitting, and propagation. This event is a great introduction for the succulent swap meet planned for early 2014! It is a free event, but donations are always accepted for our nonprofit organization that provides organic produce to those most in need in the Vallejo community. Vallejo People’s Garden       At the   Mare Island 5K J oin us 9am – 1pm for our  Plant Sale Fall and Winter vegetable starts, herbs, houseplants, succulents, and more!!! We are also hosting a Soap-Making Class 10am! Bring a checkbook or I-phone box which will be used as the mold for the soap.  $20 suggested donation. Twenty seats available. The Night Shift making pots out of newspaper in preparation for our October 13th  Open Garden Tour and Plant Sale from 10:00am to 2:00pm .  Thanks goes out to Tessie for feeding the group and for teaching the night crew how to make the origami pots.

To all gardeners and wanna-be gardeners. Mark your calendar. On Saturday, August 31st from 10am to 12noon at the Vallejo People's Garden, we will have Master Gardeners of Solano conduct a demo/presentation on composting and vermiculture. Come spend a productive couple of hours and learn about vermiculture and how to make your own 'black gold'. Black gold is the foundation to growing healthy plants in the garden, plants in pots, or houseplants. This workshop is free and conducted by Master Gardeners of Solano County. Hope to see you there!
